We are happy to announce Beatrice Lucchesi has been awarded the 2025 Dr. David S. & Elaine O. Trump Surgery Scholarship!

Beatrice is currently completing her fourth year of medical school at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and is thrilled to begin plastic surgery residency at Corewell Health in Grand Rapids this July.

Born in Italy, Beatrice immigrated with her family to Michigan at twelve years old and went on to become the first in her family to attend college in the United States and medical school. Her passion for surgery was first ignited during a shadowing experience at the end of high school. As an artist, she was drawn to the unique ability of plastic surgeons to restore form and function tailored to the specific needs of patients from all walks of life and on nearly every part of the human body.  She cultivated this interest via dedicated research and clinical experiences within plastic surgery, authoring multiple peer-reviewed publications, and through her work as an anatomy prosector.

As a member of both Alpha Omega Alpha and the Gold Humanism Honor Society, Beatrice has demonstrated a deep commitment to leadership and community throughout her training. Following her grandmother's diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease, she founded Music for Dementia (MFD), a multi-chapter volunteer organization which focuses on customized music sessions to support individuals living with dementia. Today MFD counts seven chapters within and outside of Michigan and continues to grow. Now trilingual, Beatrice aims to bring a cross-cultural perspective to training and serve patients from diverse backgrounds.

She is honored to receive the Dr. David S. & Elaine O. Trump Surgery Scholarship as she embarks on her career as a plastic surgeon.
