East Lansing, MI -- MSU Health Care Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Center and Mary Thiel, MPT, of MSU Health Care Physical & Occupational Therapy have been respectively awarded Best Sports Medical Clinic and Best Physical Therapist as part of the 2022 Lansing State Journal Best of the Best awards. Additionally, several of our clinics and providers were recognized as 2022 finalists including Melissa Benbow, MD, (2nd Runner Up, Pediatrician), Stephanie Bray, MD, MS, FACS, (2nd Runner Up, Cosmetic/Plastic Surgeon), MSU Health Care Pediatrics (Runner up, Pediatric Clinic), and MSU Physical & Occupational Therapy (Runner up, Physical Therapy Clinic).
“These awards exemplify the care we provide across all of our endeavors,” said Seth Ciabotti, MSU Health Care Chief Executive Officer. “We are committed to bringing health, hope, and healing to the community.”
Our sports medicine program has more than 30 years providing exemplary care to athletes — from the occasional athlete to school-age, university, and professional-level athletes. We diagnose and treat a wide range of athletic injuries using our integrated program to safely return athletes to play. Our role as the official health care providers for MSU Student-Athletes has been and continues to be university-field-tested.
“We are committed to providing convenient and comprehensive care to the community, including all of our local athletes, so that they can continue playing the sports they love,” said Jill Moschelli, MD, medical director, MSU Health Care Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Center.
We will also be welcoming two orthopedic surgeons this August. Micah Lissy, MD, MS PT, ATC, CSCS, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, certified athletic trainer, and strength coach. He has worked with the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Pistons, and the Detroit Red Wings. Toufic Jildeh, MD, is a board-eligible orthopedic surgeon who is trained in avalanche rescue medicine and has worked with the US Olympic Ski and Snowboarding teams.
MSU Health Care Physical & Occupational Therapy offers physical therapy, occupational therapy, and lymphedema services. We promote rehabilitation through one-to-one treatment sessions using specialized plans of care, person specific education, and instruction in home exercise methods for continued recovery. We also offer group training, sport-specific workouts, and one-on-one sessions.
“It is truly an honor to be recognized with this award,” said Mary Thiel, MPT, clinic manager, MSU Health Care Physical & Occupational Therapy. “Additionally, I am extremely proud of our providers and staff. I am happy their great work has been recognized as well. The health of our community is very important to us and we strive to promote healing and goal achievement through personalized care.”
